Antibiotic resistance or anti-microbial resistance is something that we all have been hearing about for some time now. It’s a global concern now. As you can see on the side of this video, print and visual media are currently spreading a lot of news and awareness about this.

What is Antimicrobial Resistance or Antibiotic Resistance?
According to WHO,
Antimicrobials – including antibiotics, antivirals, antifungals, and antiparasitics – are medicines used to prevent and treat infectious diseases in humans, animals and plants.
Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) occurs when bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites no longer respond to antimicrobial medicines. As a result of drug resistance, antibiotics and other antimicrobial medicines become ineffective and infections become difficult or impossible to treat, increasing the risk of disease spread, severe illness, disability and death.
Humans are treated with antibiotics almost exclusively from birth, even in cases of mild infection. Some people treat numerous infectious diseases with broad range antibiotics as a preventative measure. Research has shown that a number of Ayurvedic medications have potent antimicrobial properties. Numerous reputable scholarly journals have published evidence supporting this reality; hence it is not a myth.
To demonstrate my point, I'll describe a single instance of urinary tract infection that I managed with only a minimal number of Ayurvedic medicines—not even an antibiotic.
This patient is 65 y/o/f, came with symptoms of UTI like burning sensation and pain during urination and all. On initial Urinalysis the pus cells etc were high and on culture we noticed the presence of Klebsiella bacteria as shown here in the report.

From the second day all her symptoms started relieving. And within 10 days, she got cured.

So, I would like to conclude by quoting that Ayurveda has the potential to replace antibiotic therapy and reverse the infectious state, thus improving the quality of life.
